For many, it can take years or even decades to be able to talk about it.
It’s estimated that 20% of women and 4% of men will have experienced some form of sexual violence in their lifetime (CSEW 2017), though some people don’t receive support for a long time because they fear they will be judged and won’t be believed.
SARCs are a safe and sensitive space where you will be reassured that you are believed and you are not to blame. Whether something happened recently or many years ago there is support available if you feel ready to access it.
We will talk to you about the options available and will be totally led by you on what happens next. This may or may not include reporting to the police, exploring counselling or other services for example.
